About Me:
I live in the North West and work as a bioengineer in a university. In my spare time I love baking, reading detective novels, hiking and (very amateur!) photography.
-
My pronouns are:
she/her
-
My Work:
I look at building human body parts and organs in the lab, using engineering techniques to solve medical problems.
-
My Typical Day:
No two days are the same. I usually start work at around 8am, and my day can include teaching students, doing experiments and running meetings. I grab some lunch while doing e-mails and finish work at 6pm.
-
What I'd do with the prize money:
Not many people know about bioengineering- I think it is a really exciting career that can benefit people, so I want to develop information and activities that can be used in schools to let more people know about the research and work done in this area. I’d start creating these activities by working with my local primary school and other schools that have pupils from families that have not typically gone to university- making everyone feel that they have as much opportunity to go to university and have a career in areas like bioengineering is really important to me. Everyone deserves this kind of information and opportunity.
